OUR LETTERS CROSSED
In the air on the way
over here I saw a skein of geese
which was constantly
raveling and unraveling.
It scared me because I
kept
expecting the skein to
smoothly resolve itself and it kept
knotting up in one
end.
It was like a warning
written in the sky
an omen
things were going
wrong up there.
I kept my
eye on the sky as they crossed
above the highway and kept
hoping that they would
smooth out but even as I
left them heading over Spy'
Pond they were still
clenching and unclenching
like a fist.
